Is there a desktop version of Edits?
Short answer: not yet. Here's everything actually known about it, and why the wait has gone on this long.
What's confirmed
Meta showed a working desktop build of Edits at a creator event, alongside an AI production assistant designed to help with ideas and posting timing. Meta called it "coming soon" without giving a specific date. As of this page's last check, it's being tested with a small group of selected creators and hasn't opened to the public.
What isn't confirmed
- Release date. No timeline has been shared beyond "coming soon."
- Which operating systems. Whether it covers Windows, Mac, or both hasn't been stated.
- Pricing. Nothing has changed about Edits being free, but a desktop-specific tier hasn't been ruled out either.
- Feature parity. It's unclear whether every mobile tool, including the newer AI features, will carry over on day one.
Why it's taking this long
The mobile app itself didn't launch all at once. iOS came first, Android followed a few weeks later, and features like Folders, Project Versions, and keyframes were added gradually over the following year rather than shipping together at launch. A slow, tested rollout for desktop fits that same pattern, especially for a version that has to work well on a much wider range of hardware than a phone does.
What to watch out for in the meantime
Any app or website advertising "Edits for PC" right now isn't an official Meta release, since nothing has been published publicly. A few workarounds exist if you want to edit on a bigger screen today: running the Android app through an emulator on Windows, or using the iPhone app directly on an Apple silicon Mac. Both are covered step by step on the download page.
How this page stays current
This is checked against Meta's own creator-facing announcements, not rumors or unofficial leaks. If the status changes, this guide gets updated rather than left as-is.
