Why EditsInsta exists

What this site is

EditsInsta is an independent reference site for Edits, the free video editing app Meta built for Instagram creators. We cover what the app actually does, how it compares to other editors, and the real status of features people ask about most, including the desktop version that still hasn't had a public release. Everything here is written to be read in a few minutes and actually acted on, not skimmed and forgotten.

Why we started it

When Edits launched in April 2025, most of what was written about it online fell into two categories: short app-store-style feature lists that barely told you anything, or promotional pages that read like they were written by the app's own marketing team. Neither was much use if you were actually trying to decide whether to switch from CapCut, or trying to figure out whether the desktop version everyone kept mentioning was actually real. We built this site to sit in between: detailed enough to be useful, honest enough to say where the app still falls short.

How we keep things accurate

Every page on this site is checked against primary sources where they exist: Meta's own creator-facing announcements, official app store listings, and coverage from established technology outlets. Where something is genuinely unconfirmed, like a release date that hasn't been announced, we say so directly rather than guessing. Pages carry an "updated" date, and when Meta changes something meaningful, whether that's a new feature, a new platform, or a change in the desktop rollout, we revisit the relevant page rather than leaving stale information up.

We're not shy about pointing out where Edits is weaker than its competitors, and we don't pretend to be more comprehensive than we are. If you find something on this site that's out of date or inaccurate, the fastest way to get it fixed is to tell us directly through the contact page.

Who's behind it

EditsInsta is run independently by a small team focused on covering creator tools and short-form video software. We're not employed by Meta or Instagram, we don't have early access to unreleased features, and we don't have a business relationship with the companies whose products we write about. That independence is also why we can write plainly about the app's shortcomings instead of only its strengths.

What we're not

We're not the official website for Edits, and we don't want to be mistaken for one. "Edits," "Instagram," and related names and logos belong to Meta. Nothing on this site should be read as an official statement from Meta or Instagram. For the actual app, always use the official links on our download page, which point directly to the App Store and Google Play.

How the site makes money

EditsInsta is supported by standard display advertising, the kind served through ad networks like Google AdSense. We don't run sponsored posts disguised as regular coverage, and advertising has no influence over what we write or how we compare Edits to other apps.
